![]() The Matecaña International Airport, belongs to the City of Pereira and was created in 1944 by the Agreement #34 of August 18, 1944. For this resolves to build a landing field length of 1800 meters and providing for acquisition of 40,000 square meters of land. It was built through the efforts of citizens through special events memorable civic pride to the city and an example which won wide recognition throughout the country. ![]() The first aircraft officially landed on July 24, 1947 was a C-47 commanded by Capt. Luis Carlos Londoño Iragorri. It was formed in a municipal public establishment under Agreement No. 47 of August 18, 1976 led by a board preceded by the Municipal Mayor and endowed with legal personality, administrative and property itself.
