The certification audit is fairly demanding in terms of physical and technical infrastructure and aviation security measures, airport rescue and fire fighting and also all the previous conditions and procedures developed in each of the areas of the airport, must be properly documented and implemented in line with international standards. ICAO Certification is vital to the entity, as it depends on the operation and future operation of the airport.

For these reasons the current physical and administrative infrastructure of the institution, is adjusting to the norms of the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO), for the purpose of giving effect to the first principle of the constitution which clearly states that the main purpose of The institution is equipped to maintain the City of Pereira adequate air port for the secure mobilization of passengers and freight, national, and international and other services to advise aerospace transportation technology.

Into the new millennium it is necessary to enter a set of adjustments to the institution in all its orders, in order to strengthen the operational infrastructure and cost of the air terminal and more competitive in terms of service and customer care.

The rationalization of physical resources, technological, economic, human and operational arrangements for the service call for new approach to achieve greater efficiency in operation on the ground and ensure lower costs of service and thereby strengthen the financial structure of the entity and achieve the resources necessary for technological investment leading to an airport in the coffee region.

Based on the above developed strategies, programs and projects that make up the Pan Development, with this planning process, the International Airport of Pereira Matecaña start a new path that will allow you to consolidate, as a competitive organization and recognized by its strong contribution to local and regional development.
